Cold Chain Compliance Rate
Percentage of temperature-sensitive produce maintained within required temperature range throughout storage and transport
What is Cold Chain Compliance Rate?
Cold chain compliance rate is the percentage of monitored shipments that stayed within the required temperature range from origin to delivery. It shows how well temperature-sensitive goods are protected.
For food and other perishable goods, breaks in the cold chain can cause spoilage, waste and safety risks.

How to calculate it
Divide shipments within temperature specification by total monitored shipments, and multiply by 100.
For example, if 970 of 1,000 monitored shipments stayed in range, compliance is 97%.
Use temperature loggers or sensors, define the allowed range and time outside it, and record where breaches occur.
Where it is used
Protecting product quality
Reduce spoilage.
Meeting food safety rules
Show compliance.
Finding weak links
Locate where breaks happen.
How to improve it
Tips and common mistakes
- Monitor the whole journey, including loading and handovers.
- Keep records for audit.
