Intent Data Coverage
Percentage of target accounts with active buying intent signals recorded from third-party intent data sources
What is Intent Data Coverage?
Intent data coverage is the percentage of target accounts showing active buying signals, such as researching relevant topics or comparing vendors. It shows how many of the accounts you care about are currently in the market.
It helps marketing and sales time their outreach to accounts that are actually looking, instead of treating every target the same.

How to calculate it
Divide the number of target accounts with active intent signals by the total number of target accounts, and multiply by 100.
For example, if 60 of 400 target accounts show active signals this month, coverage is (60 / 400) x 100 = 15%.
Decide what counts as an active signal and how recent it must be. Intent providers differ in what they measure, so treat the figure as a guide rather than a certainty.
Where it is used
Prioritising outreach
Focus sales and marketing effort on accounts showing current interest.
Timing campaigns
Increase activity when a large share of the list is actively researching.
Assessing data value
Judge whether an intent data source is worth its cost.
How to improve it
Tips and common mistakes
- Intent signals show interest, not a decision. Use them to start conversations, not to assume a sale.
- Coverage depends on the provider. Compare more than one source before relying on it.
- Respect privacy rules on how signal data is collected and used.
