Financial Close Cycle Time
Number of calendar days taken to close the books and issue management accounts after period end
What is Financial Close Cycle Time?
Financial close cycle time is the number of days from the end of a period to the issue of management accounts. It shows how quickly finance can produce reliable numbers.
A shorter close gives leaders fresher information and frees the finance team's time for analysis rather than processing.

How to calculate it
Subtract the period end date from the date the management accounts were issued.
For example, if the month ended on the 31st and the accounts were issued on the 9th of the next month, the close takes 9 days.
Track the close month by month, and look at the time taken by each step, such as accruals, reconciliations and review.
