Social Media Follower Growth
Rate of growth in the organisation’s social media following across platforms
What is Social Media Follower Growth?
Social media follower growth is the percentage change in an audience's number of followers over a period. It shows whether supporter and community reach is building.
For organisations that depend on supporters, a growing following is a sign that messages resonate and that the audience can be reached directly.

- ((Followers end of period − Followers start of period) / Followers start of period) × 100
How to calculate it
Subtract followers at the start of the period from followers at the end, divide by followers at the start, and multiply by 100.
For example, if an account had 10,000 followers at the start of a quarter and 10,800 at the end, growth is ((10,800 - 10,000) / 10,000) x 100 = 8%.
Measure each platform separately and track engagement too, since a growing but silent audience adds little.
