Marketing-Influenced Pipeline
Total value of sales pipeline where marketing had at least one touchpoint in the buyer journey
What is Marketing-Influenced Pipeline?
Marketing-influenced pipeline is the total value of sales opportunities that had at least one marketing interaction at some point in their journey. It captures marketing's wider contribution, including deals it did not originate but helped move forward.
Where sourced pipeline asks what marketing started, influenced pipeline asks what marketing touched. Together they give a fuller view of marketing's role in the sales cycle.

How to calculate it
Add up the value of every opportunity that has at least one recorded marketing touchpoint, such as an email, event, content download or ad interaction.
For example, if 100 opportunities worth 2,000,000 in total are open and 70 of them, worth 1,500,000, had a marketing touchpoint, marketing-influenced pipeline is 1,500,000.
Because almost any long sales cycle will include some marketing contact, the measure tends to be large. Use it to show reach, not to claim credit for revenue.
Where it is used
Showing marketing's wider role
Demonstrate the contribution to deals that were sourced by sales or partners.
Supporting account-based programmes
Measure whether target accounts already in the pipeline are being engaged.
Understanding the buyer journey
See which touchpoints most often appear in deals that progress.
How to improve it
Tips and common mistakes
- Do not present influenced pipeline as revenue marketing created. It overstates causation.
- Set a minimum level of engagement for a touch to count, or the number becomes meaningless.
- Use it for trend and reach. Use sourced pipeline for accountability.
