ICP Match Rate
Percentage of marketing-generated leads that match the defined Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) criteria
What is ICP Match Rate?
Ideal customer profile (ICP) match rate is the percentage of leads that fit the description of the customer a business most wants to win. It shows how well marketing is attracting the right people, not just many people.
A high rate means effort is reaching the target market. A low rate means spend is going to leads that are unlikely to buy or to stay, which wastes sales time later.

How to calculate it
Divide the number of leads that match your ideal customer criteria by the total number of leads generated, and multiply by 100.
For example, if 1,000 leads were generated in a month and 320 met the criteria, the ICP match rate is (320 / 1,000) x 100 = 32%.
First define the criteria clearly, such as industry, company size, region and role, based on your best existing customers. Score each lead against the same criteria every time, and consider tracking matches by source.

How to improve it
Tips and common mistakes
- Base the profile on evidence from customers who stay and grow, not on assumptions.
- Do not make the definition so narrow that almost nothing qualifies.
- A good match rate on low volume may not be enough. Balance fit with quantity.
