Accounts per AM
Average number of accounts managed per account manager, used to assess capacity and coverage
What is Accounts per AM?
Accounts per account manager (AM) is the average number of active customer accounts each account manager looks after. It shows the workload and coverage of the account management team.
Too many accounts per person means thin attention and higher risk of churn, while too few means the team costs more than the revenue justifies.

How to calculate it
Divide the total number of active accounts by the number of account managers.
For example, if a team has 300 active accounts and 10 account managers, the figure is 30 accounts per manager.
The right number depends on account size and complexity. Large strategic accounts need far more attention than small ones, so consider segmenting by value.
