Average Employee Tenure
Mean length of service across all employees, indicating workforce stability
What is Average Employee Tenure?
Average employee tenure is the average length of time employees have worked for the organisation. It shows how long people tend to stay.
Long tenure can mean stability and deep knowledge, while very short tenure can signal high turnover, though very long tenure with no fresh blood can also be a concern.

How to calculate it
Add up all employees' lengths of service and divide by total headcount.
For example, if 500 employees have a combined 2,750 years of service, the average tenure is 5.5 years.
Look at the distribution, not just the average, and split by department and level, since a few very long-serving staff can lift the average.
