Assets Under Management (AUM) Growth
Growth in total value of assets managed on behalf of clients
What is Assets Under Management (AUM) Growth?
Assets under management (AUM) growth is the percentage change in the total value of client assets a firm manages over a period. It reflects both new money and market movements.
It is a headline measure for wealth and asset managers, since fees are usually a percentage of assets.

- Formula
- ((AUM end of period − AUM start of period) / AUM start of period) × 100
How to calculate it
Subtract AUM at the start of the period from AUM at the end, divide by AUM at the start, and multiply by 100.
For example, if AUM grew from 500,000,000 to 540,000,000, growth is ((540 - 500) / 500) x 100 = 8%.
Because markets move AUM, separate growth from new client money from growth caused by investment performance.
