Linking plans across projects
Show which plans support which, from the Plan Explorer or from a plan's own page
how-to
Updated 2026-10-13A plan can support another plan. The plan that gives the support sits below; the plan that receives it sits above, so on the Plan Explorer map support always flows up.
Make a connection
- Open the Plan Explorer and click a plan on the map, or open a plan and use the connections icon in its header.
- Use Find a plan to support or Find a supporter, or right-click a plan on the map and choose Supports another plan or Another plan supports this plan.
- Choose one element on each plan to connect those two elements. Choose the two plan cards to connect the plans as a whole, when every element of one supports the other.
Every change shows a message with Undo.
Things to know
- Two plans are connected in one direction, either as a whole or element by element, never both. Switching from one to the other replaces the old connections and offers Undo.
- A plan cannot support itself, and connections cannot form a loop. You are told which plans the loop would run through.
- Click a connection to remove it. Reverse direction turns a whole pair round.
- You need permission to edit both plans, and a subscription that includes linking. Without the subscription you can still see the connections that were made, but not change them.
- A loop is refused with the plans it would run through, for example "Grid Connections supports Aldervale supports Pathway".
